The Plato quote is wrong, the word and concept of empathy did bot exist in ancient Greek and was coined in the early 1900s as a loan word made up by German psychologists. The Greeks used συμπάθεια which means something like “suffering with” a person. Nevertheless, I think this quote was made up.
Plato did say “The Form of the Good is the cause of all that is right and beautiful.“
