The Worst Industy in America

I purchased a Delta flight to go to an all-inclusive fitness resort. I paid extra to avoid hassles and possible delays of connecting flights. Without my initiation, Delta changed my flights five times over the past few months. The last one came hours before takeoff, with multiple connections. The resort has scheduled items for each day of your stay, so this already blew the potentional first day of the program. I went to sleep awaiting my later flight. When I woke, I found out Delta changed my flights a 6th time with 3 interconnecting flights. The final destination wasn’t f*cking Japan!…it was Green Bay to North Carolina. But it didn’t matter, because oops..they moved up my 1st flight to an earlier time while I was asleep. So, I scrambled and rescheduled flights again…an 18 hour day with multiple connections. Later, Delta again informed me a 7th change was made without my initiation. and flights would be delayed until the next day. I searched online—nothing available from any airlines. Delta customer service line — “Your business is important to us. Your estimated wait time for a representative is 5 hours and 37 minutes.”
Airlines are the absolute worst business in America. Of course, the TSA and stupid ass government rules deserve most of the blame, but I can hear the airline execs discussing customer service…”The customers don’t like it?! Well, f*ck em! All our competitors are also fascist, uncaring assholes, so where are they gonna go?”
How did we let it get like this? We’re treated like prisoners going to our cells. We stand in lines like cattle, are jammed in seats like sardines, subjected to intrusive searches and mindnumbingly stupid rules. OMG, your shampoo is 4 oz!!! You have Vicks vapor rub! Your bag is 50.5 lbs..that will be an extra charge….Now, go take your middle seat between the 300-lb ladies. Sorry, you arrived 15 minutes before flight takeoff, so boarding is closed! No, we don’t care your connecting flight was delayed. Sorry, your luggage was put on a later flight. Come back in 6 hours and go to our conveniently located luggage graveyard dump.
Anyway, I rescheduled my trip in September and will be DRIVING to the resort. I plan to do a shorter impromtu vacation for now. I initiated an online refund request with Delta since it’s impossible to speak to a human operator, but I’m sure the best case scenario will be, “We can’t refund your money, but here’s a credit to use our shitty airline for another sucky adventure of ‘Guess when or if I’ll be flying.'”

Vote with your money and your feet. We stopped flying years ago. Its not worth it and I refuse to support anyone who acts like an abusive spouse. If you support it, then you deserve it.
I refuse to get a real ID… Ill drive anywhere I need to go…
As always….GOVERNMENT. The airlines, despite the APPEARANCE of a competitive marketplace, are nothing more than YET ANOTHER GOVERNMENT-PROTECTED CARTEL…and THEY KNOW IT. Regulations, post 9-11 BS, and so much more have only WORSENED what was already a pretty horrible flying experience. Back when there was just the CAB (CIVIL Aeronautics Board – pretty much PRIVATE), we were safe, comfortable, and things just kept getting better and better for flying. I remember going back to the COACH lounge at the back of the 747 on several trips to NYC from LA when I was a kid. I got to see the fabulous First Class lounge while visiting the cockpit after the flight (used to do that for kids). A WAY better way to fly that only seems to have equals on FOREIGN air lines like Emirates (never flown them, just basing it on their commercials). And notice how NO AIRLINES seems to advertise anymore, or certainly NOT in any way that promotes how well they treat you/pamper you? THEY DON’T HAVE TO….YOU HAVE NO CHOICE…except to drive
Was a time, about 20 years ago, that I had to fly for work almost weekly. Hated every minute. Delays, changes, cancellations. In some cases the time it took to get to an airport, check-in, do the screening, the boarding, etc. and then actually fly to the destination was longer than it took to actually just drive there instead. I quit that job (thank God). I’m at a point that if I can’t drive there myself, I ain’t going. So sad, too bad, ain’t getting on another plane unless I’m flying it. It’ll be like the ending of Secondhand Lions.
