The Uniparty Must Be Shattered

Democrats voted against the spending bills only because there were ANY cuts at all, and Republicans actually needed a tiebreaking vote from Vance to cut less than .1 percent of the annual budget, all the while they continue costly, destructive wars with no ends in sight. I hear all the time that “3rd parties can’t win,” but at this point, perception of that myth is the ONLY reason a 3rd party hasn’t taken hold in America. I believe it’s now the right environment for that to change, especially with the disastrous performance of both parties the past 5 years. Remember all the video clips of media, politicians, and celebrities saying Trump could never win? He managed to defy the odds and win not once, but twice! (actully, three times, but we’ll put that aside for now)

Trump didn’t win by running as an Establishment Republican. He ran as an outsider. Despite the (R) label, he essentially was an Independent. Never Trumpers and Establishment figures on the right who fought him got slaughtered in elections and popularity. Trump won despite his divisive personality, crude insults, and a long list of campaign mistakes. He won because over half the population was fed up the Uniparty! So, why can’t another independent win just because we’re taking off the Republican label? In fact, after the recent betrayals and broken promises of Trump and Congressional Republicans, the (R) label may hurt more than help chances with much of population. I personally won’t be voting for anyone with an (R) or (D) after their name.

Back in the 1992 presidential race, at a time when hatred for the Uniparty was a tiny fraction of what it is now, Ross Perot managed to get 19 percent of the vote. He was actually leading in polls as late as July before he abruptly pulled out of the race, likely because his family was threatened. Whatever the reason, he eventually got back in, but enough damage was done that he fell short in the race, and Bill Clinton became president with 43 percent of the vote.

Even if 3rd parties don’t win, they can have a significant impact on campaigns, as Republicans and Democrats often modify their platforms to bring in those voting blocks. That’s exactly how Trump won in 2024. He brought in prominent libertarians, Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson. He brought in the popular anti-war advocate, Tulsi Gabbard. He swayed RFK, Jr. to add the anti-Big Pharma voters and disillusioned Democrats forced to accept Kamala Harris. Very few politicians are brazen and arrogant enough to tell their new voting blocks straight out GFY after the election, or call them “weak” and “stupid” for wanting their campaign promises fulfilled.

Really, what does it matter if the perceived “lesser of two evils” takes power when they both govern the same? Democrats tell you during the campaign exactly how they’re going to screw the middle class and take away your freedom, then proceed to do exactly that when they win. Republicans run as small government libertarians, then once in power, screw the middle class and take away your freedom. I get that the “independents can’t win” mentality is so strong that it might indeed prevent one from winning. However, casting enough 3rd party votes, even in protest, may eventually grow large enough in number that people will indeed take independent candidates seriously. It may take 2-3 elections to get there.

To win the presidency, it will take someone with national name recognition, sort of like Trump, but with integrity who keeps his promises and doesn’t find a way to alienate millions of voters in every speech. Both major parties have created massive voting segments who will likely stay home in future elections, convinced it doesn’t matter. A strong independent candidate may be just what gets them to the polls.

  1. The problem with a third party candidate is exposure, by that I mean a national identity and an incredible amount of money. Right now it seems to me that only Musk fits that description and he has managed to piss off massive numbers of potential supporters on both side of the aisle.

  2. “73 genders”…haha. This is just my observation as a heterosexual woman. Before the early 2010s or so, it seemed like most people in the “gay community” were gay men, lesbian women, bisexual, or asexual. In my experience, most of them were nice, down-to-earth people who just happened to be gay. Otherwise, they weren’t much different from you or me. They wanted to go about their business and be treated like anyone else. Now, more and more people “identify” as something like “non-binary omnisexual demiboy whose pronouns are he/they” or whatever. And they are more pushy and obnoxious in general.
