Random Thoughts of the Day

Historians usually rank FDR, Teddy Roosevelt, Andrew Jackson, Woodrow Wilson, and Abraham Lincoln among the best U.S. presidents. I won’t get into how bad historian rankings are, but no matter what you think of these men, all of them dramatically expanded executive power counter to the wording of the Constitution. Yes, you can argue that all of them had different crises to deal with, but that doesn’t change the fact the precedents they set gave the American president way too much power. The reason Obama, Biden, and others have been able to do so much damage is specifically because of that expanded power.

Every monarchy is history has failed over time because eventually they had to be turned over to an heir to the throne who was stupid, corrupt, spoiled, and/or heartless. So, while many are cheering on all that Trump is accomplishing through executive orders, we have to be wary of any new precedents he may be setting. Everything Trump does by EO can be taken away by EO (or worse) the next time the Ruling Class gets another President Select in office.
