Pretty simple. Voluntary charity works better because the money must be earned, not simply STOLEN. Are there examples of fraud? Sure. Like the United Way scandal and the fact that many charity CEOs make millions per year. But that can be exposed and people can withhold their donations…which they have. The ONLY charity that should be allowed in the US is private voluntary charitable giving. But of course the role government plays in creating or worsening the problems charities attempt to address is another discussion entirely.
