We May Never Again Experience Such an Era of Textbook Gaslighting 🙄

Random Thoughts of the Day
Trump has been at the center of American politics now for the past 11 years, yet most of Western mainstream media still can’t seem to understand he uses hyperbole, makes jokes, and throws out outrageous statements that he knows thinking-challenged media will repeat for him 24/7. No, Canada isn’t going to be annexed. No, we’re not going to use military force to take Greenland. No countries will face 100 percent tariffs. Anyone with a functioning brain should be able to figure these out, yet media outlets regularly bring out “experts” to tell us what will happen if Trump carries out one of these non-serious statements. Democrats questioning Trump cabinet nominees talk like these are real threats. Note: some of these questioners are among the dumbest people in America, not just dumbest in Congress, although that is a pretty tough hurdle to clear. In addition to joking, maybe, just maybe, the person who authored The Art of the Deal is using some negotiating tactics. Most of the anchors on CNBC act like they have never heard of such a concept.
Sometimes the best negotiating tactic is to appear unhinged and unpredictable. For 40 years, American leaders tried to contain, bargain, and plea with the Soviet Union to bring peace, with no results. Then, one unhinged cowboy started building a missile defense system and went to the Berlin Wall to flip them the bird, while mainstream media in America and Europe portrayed him as crazy and unpredictable, and suddenly the Soviets couldn’t get to the negotiating table fast enough.
Do you think it’s a coincidence Israel and Hamas signed a ceasefire agreement only days before Trump inauguration? After he takes office, watch as China, Canada, and Europe curtail their unfair trade practices. Watch how Mexico takes more steps to secure the border. Watch how other warring parties around the globe come to the negotiating table. And all the outrageous threats and crazy statements from Trump will be forgotten. Then, the media “experts,” who NEVER face any accountability for their inaccurate predictions, will be on to the next Trump statement or action, explaining to us again how this time it’s going to end the world as we know it!

Dang if you ain’t some kind of kindred spirit…my brother!
Similarly, look President Trump’s “100% return to office for federal workers” statement. My family is super-worried over the fact that I’m a federal employee and my home office is just outside DC, but I live in (very, very) northern Michigan. “Ermuhgurd, Dad, are they gonna force you to move to DC?” Nope.
Trump’s just making a point that the Federal government pays for so many empty buildings that we need to fix the issue. One way to fix the issue _could be_ to force all the federal employees back into the office environment… or, he can make a point that if he ‘backs off’ on the telework situation, the feds should sell / quit leasing all the unused office space, saving the taxpayers *billions* in wasted funds.
Finally, the OPDIV I work for does have a small field office just a few miles away from my home. Why don’t I work there? People in HR don’t want to do the paperwork to split the property’s use between area office staff and headquarters staff. If Trump did require me to go back to an office environment, he would be much farther ahead to just direct HR directors to allow me (and others in my situation) to work locally, which I would be totally fine with.
